Maurizio Bozzi was born in Voghera, Italy, on June 1, 1971. He received the MSc degree in Electronic Engineering and the PhD in Electronics and Computer Science from the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy, in 1996 and 2000, respectively. In 2002, he joined the Department of Electronics (now Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering), University of Pavia, Italy, where currently he is a Full Professor of Electromagnetic Fields. He currently teaches the courses of “Electromagnetic Field Theory – Guided Wave Propagation” and “Antennas and Propagation”.

He held research positions in various universities worldwide. From December 1996 to September 1997 he was a Guest Researcher at the Technische Universitaet Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Germany. From October 2001 to January 2002 he was a Post-doc Fellow at the Universitat de Valencia, Valencia, Spain. Moreover, he was an Invited Professor at the École Polytechnique de Montréal, Montréal, Québec, Canada, from November to December 2002, from June to July 2004, from June to July 2005, from June to August 2006, and from June to August 2007. In May 2009, he was a visiting scientist at the Centre Tecnologic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), Castelldefels (Barcelona), Spain, and in November 2009 he was an Invited Professor at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, Tunisia. He was a Guest Professor at Tianjin University, China (2015-2017) and a Visiting Professor at Gdansk University of Technology, Poland (2017-2018).
His main research interests concern the computational electromagnetics, the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology, and the use of novel materials and fabrication technologies for microwave circuits.

Prof. Bozzi is the 2024 President of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S). He was an elected Member of the Administrative Committee of MTT-S for years 2017–2022, the Chair of the Budget Committee in 2023, the MTT-S Treasurer for years 2020–2022, the Chair of the Meetings and Symposia Committee of MTT-S AdCom for years 2018-2019, and the Secretary of MTT-S in 2016. He was also a member of the General Assembly (GA) of the European Microwave Association (EuMA) for the term 2014–2016.

He served as a Track Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques and as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, the IET Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, and the IET Electronics Letters.
He was the General Chair of the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series-Advanced Materials and Processes (IMWS-AMP 2017), Pavia, Italy, 2017, of the inaugural edition of the IEEE International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic Modeling and Optimization, NEMO2014 (Pavia, Italy, May 14-16, 2014), and of the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Millimeter Wave Integration Technologies (Sitges, Spain, Sept. 15-16, 2011).

Prof. Bozzi is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) (class of 2018), a Member of the European Microwave Association (EuMA), and a Member of the Societa’ Italiana di Elettromagnetismo (SIEm).
