Sofia Rustioni
Sofia Rustioni was born in 2002 in Pavia, Italy.
In September 2023, she earned the Bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Pavia, with a thesis focused on the development of an innovative sensor for characterizing the dielectric permittivity of liquid materials, based on inverted microstrip and 3D printing hybrid technology. This project led to the publication of her first scientific paper, which was presented at the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2024) in Washington, D.C.
She continued her studies at the same university, obtaining the Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering with honors in September 2025. The Master’s thesis focused on the design and development of an FMCW radar for snowpack monitoring and characterization.
Since October 2025, she has been a Ph.D. student at the Microwave Laboratory of the University of Pavia, where her research focuses on snowpack monitoring and characterization.
